Question 1

What's the difference between a wedding planner and day-of coordinator?

Accepted Answer

A full-service planner is involved from engagement to honeymoon, managing budget, vendors, design, and logistics. A day-of coordinator takes over 4-6 weeks before the wedding and runs the day. Partial planners fall in between.

Question 2

When should I hire a wedding planner?

Accepted Answer

For full-service planning, hire 10-14 months before the wedding. For day-of coordination, 4-6 months out is typical, though the best coordinators book up 8+ months in advance.

Question 3

Is a wedding planner worth the cost?

Accepted Answer

Planners typically save couples 10-20% through vendor negotiations, prevent costly mistakes, and eliminate planning stress. They also handle problems on the wedding day so you never know something went wrong.

Question 4

What should I look for in a planner?

Accepted Answer

Look for strong communication skills, organized systems, vendor relationships in your market, experience with your venue type, and a personality you enjoy working with. Ask for references from recent couples.

Question 5

How far in advance should I book this vendor?

Accepted Answer

Most Atlanta wedding vendors book 8-14 months in advance for peak season dates. For popular weekend dates during spring and fall, booking 12+ months out is recommended.

Question 6

What should I look for when choosing a vendor?

Accepted Answer

Review full event galleries (not just portfolio highlights), check references from recent clients, ensure they carry liability insurance, understand their cancellation policy, and make sure your personalities work well together.
